Clinical Analysis of the Benign gn flepatobiliary Diseases of the Korean adult

Abstract
Here we statistically analized the 236 consecutive cases of benign biliary tract patients whom we treated surgically at Dept. of General Surgery, of Sacred Heart Hospital, Chung-Ang University, School of Medicine, from June 10, 1968 to June 9, 1974
1. The choJelithiasis was the, most common disease, and intrahepatic disease; 39 cases (16:5%), cholecystitis without stone; 37 cases (15.7%), common bile duct ascariasis; 15 cases (6.4%), Clonorchis sinensis; 6 cases (2.5%) and congenital deformity of gall bldader; 1 case (0.4%).
2. The sex ratio was 1 male to 1.5 females and the youngest case was 17 year old and the oldest, 78 and average was 47.5 years old.
3. The prominent symptoms were pain in R.U.Q. (79.2%), intermittent colicky pain (69.9%) and indigestion (28.8%).
4. This disease was most frequent in August (10.6%).
5. In laboratory data, leukocytosis was noted in 51.7% of whole cases and 66% of intrahepatic stone cases. Increased alkaline phosphatase was noted in 28.1% of whole cases.
6. By simple abdominal films, 13% of all cases, and by oral cholecystogram. 21.4% of all cases, stones were easily detectable.
7. The majority of patients, 63.3% of this series, were performed the cholecystectomy with choledochostomy.
8. The mortality rate of this series was 1.69%,
